Advertising Bureau & Consultants bags media duties for Kolkata West International City

The size of the business is estimated to be Rs 3 crore

Advertising Bureau & Consultants (ABC), a media buying house based in Kolkata, has bagged the media buying duties for Kolkata West International City (KWIC). KWIC is one of the biggest integrated satellite township developments in East India, spread over 390 acres, with 6,100 bungalows, four residential towers, three IT parks, a 13-acre club, a 200-bed hospital, two schools, shopping malls and entertainment zones.

Valued at around US$ 330 million, this township is being developed by Indonesia’s Salim and Ciputra Group. This is the first instance of a foreign private player developing a township in Kolkata.

The size of the business is estimated to be Rs 3 crore. ABC will be the first media buying house to handle the media buying duties for KWIC. The creative duties for KWIC are with Bates Enterprise, Kolkata.

The pitch, which happened in the last week of April 2006, saw six-seven agencies in the fray. The names of these agencies could not be ascertained.

Commenting on the win, Aveek Roy Chowdhury, group head, ABC, says, “We were able to clearly establish the fact that we could provide better service to the client.”

Initially, KWIC will concentrate on print and outdoor as part of the media mix and later look at television and radio as well.
