Sahara One’s music channel, Hit, to be launched in a few months

The Sahara One network of entertainment channels is trying to consolidate its distribution by going separate from its network of news channels, Sahara Samay

Sahara One Media and Entertainment plans to launch its music channel, Hit, by the end of 2006. This will be the network’s third channel.

According to Shantonu Aditya, CEO, Sahara One, the group has already procured the broadcast equipment for the channel.

Sahara One Television Network is currently trying to consolidate its distribution network. From now onwards, Sahara One’s entertainment channels, Sahara One and Filmy, and the upcoming Hit will be distributed separately from its network of news channels, which are under the umbrella of Sahara Samay.

The company has roped in Sameer Ganapathy as national distribution head. Ganapathy will report to Aditya at Sahara One.

Aditya says, “Ganpathy’s mandate here will be to strengthen the distribution network and increase connectivity for Filmy and Hit.”

Ganapathy has over ten years of experience in the field of distribution. He has worked with One Alliance and Discovery Channel in the past.

According to Aditya, the channel has been dealing with other core areas until now such as ad sales and the launch of Filmy. Now, distribution will top its agenda.

Just recently, Sahara Filmy had appointed Sparsh Ganguli as its national sales head. Ganguli had joined from Sony Entertainment Television’s SET Max.
