Steve Blakeman returns to Initiative

Blakeman’s new mandate will be to head the regional planning functions in the area of integrated communication planning and strategic thinking for consumer engagement. Based in Singapore, he will report to King F Lai, chief operating officer, Asia Pacific, Initiative

Initiative has appointed Steve Blakeman as the channel strategy director for its Asia Pacific operations. He will join office on November 3, 2006. His mandate at Initiative will be to head the regional planning functions in the area of integrated communication planning and strategic thinking for consumer engagement. Based in Singapore, he will report to King F Lai, chief operating officer, Asia Pacific, Initiative.

Before this, Blakeman worked with PHD, a UK-based media agency, as a managing partner. During his tenure with PHD, he was instrumental in launching PHD North in Manchester. Blakeman has worked earlier with Initiative for two years as communications planning director on Unilever – that was prior to joining PHD. He is returning to Initiative after three years.

Commenting on Blakeman’s appointment, Lai says, “Steve is known for devising holistic brand communication plans. He will develop and empower the local teams and work along with local and regional clients. Under him, these teams will continue to develop integrated communication strategies and brand activation ideas that will eventually strengthen the consumer brand experience.”

Blakeman says, “At the moment, the Asia Pacific has the world’s most dynamic economies, with China alone accounting for one billion consumers. I want to be part of the action, with Initiative having thought leaders that have the potential to grow beyond and initiate change.”
