OMD wins HP media business worth Rs 100 crore

In India, Zenith Optimedia has lost the business to OMD after serving the account for five years

Following a multi-agency pitch process and a global realignment, the media duties for the technology giant, Hewlett Packard (HP), was won by the Omnicom Group. In India, Optimum Media Direction (OMD) will be the custodian of the account.

On a global level, the Omnicom Group will handle the media duties for all four verticals of the company – the Technology Solutions Group (TSG), the Personal Systems Group (PSG), Imaging and Printing (IPG) and Electronic Data System (EDS).

OMD wins HP media business worth Rs 100 crore
Sources reveal that the brief circulated to some agencies in India was on the TSG vertical. In India, HP has an approximate advertising-cum-media spend of about Rs 100 crore.

Zenith Optimedia is the incumbent agency on the business and has been the media AOR (agency of record) for the brand for about five years. This decision will probably be a blow to the agency in India as HP is one of the highest spenders in the category and has been one of its key clients.

When contacted, OMD officials refused to divulge any information on the win and said it was too early to comment.
