Nava Bharat to launch Nasik edition in mid-August
Hindi daily, Nava Bharat, would be launching its 12th edition in mid-August in Nasik, Maharashtra
Nava Bharat, the Hindi daily, will launch an edition from Nasik in mid-August. This is the publication's fourth edition in Maharashtra and twelfth in India.
According to Nimish Maheshwari, managing director, Nava Bharat (Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh), the Nasik edition will have an initial print-run of 30,000 copies and a cover price of Rs 3. The edition will have 16 pages, of which four would be dedicated to Nasik.
Nava Bharat, which was founded in 1934 by Ramgopal Maheshwari from Nagpur, split into two groups early this decade. The Bhopal based group is referred to as Nava Bharat (Madhya Pradesh) and the Nagpur based group as Nava Bharat (Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh).
Nava Bharat (Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh) publishes the Maharashtra editions, as well as the Raipur and Bilaspur editions in Chhattisgarh, besides the English daily, Central Chronicle from Raipur.
Nava Bharat (Madhya Pradesh) brings out the Bhopal edition and five more editions in Madhya Pradesh, namely, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Chhindwara and Satna. It also publishes the Central Chronicle from Bhopal.
The Nasik edition, according to Maheshwari, will be targeted at Hindi speaking individuals. "Almost 35 per cent of the Nasik population comprises Hindi readers. This includes migrants from North India -- Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar and Jharkhand -- who work in the local industries," he says.
Nava Bharat has already started a door-to-door subscription drive in Nasik. The daily is offering heavy discounts on three- and six-month subscriptions. It will primarily use outdoor to advertise the new edition.
According to Maheshwari, the next destination for the group is Amrawati. He, however, refused to put a date to the launch.
The group also has interests in newsprint production under Madhyadesh Papers Ltd, based in Nagpur.
As per the Indian Readership Survey (R1, 2009), Nava Bharat (Maharashtra/Chhattisgarh) has a total readership of 44.77 lakh; while Nava Bharat (Madhya Pradesh) has a total readership of 22.36 lakh.
