Realm Media strengthens South operations; appoints Ovez Khan as group VP

With Khan joining Realm, his entrepreneurial venture, Billboards India, also becomes a part of the Realm Retail business.

Media solutions agency Realm Media Solutions, which was set up by OOH (out of home) professionals Yuvraj Agarwal and Satish Kailash Singh in April 2010, has taken some key steps to strengthen and expand its base in the South.

To spearhead and strengthen its South operations, the agency has appointed Ovez Khan as group vice-president. Khan, who served as head, South, at Percept OOH till recently, quit to launch Billboards India, his own outdoor firm, in mid-July.

Khan brings with him more than 13 years of experience in marketing, sales, OOH advertising and acquisitions. He will now be responsible for establishing and managing the south zonal office for Realm Media. Additionally, he will be responsible for national business development for Realm OOH, Realm Retail and the Realm BTP (below the pyramid) solutions business.

With this move, Billboards India, set up by Khan, also becomes a part of the Realm Retail business. Realm Retail will continue to provide innovative OOH solutions and ideas to brands, agencies and other OOH media solution providers.

While being a part of Realm, Billboards will still be maintained as a separate entity, not having being bought over by Realm Media. The two agencies will now share clients.

The south zone has been one of the key regions for Realm, and it has executed multiple campaigns over the past 16 months for brands such as DHFL, Platinum, JSW Group, JSPL, Max Bupa and GKB Opticals.

Discussing the new appointments, Yuvraj Agarwal, founder director and chief executive officer, Realm Media Solutions, says, "With Khan's vast experience, I am sure he will add tremendously to the group bandwidth of providing innovative, cost-effective and accountable solutions to brands. We welcome him and the entire team on board."

Commenting on his move, Khan says, "Change is a very pleasant constant. Realm Media is a place where talent is appreciated and groomed for future leadership, not only within the group, but the entire industry. My new role will be to take the Realm Media business to the next level. I am looking forward to bringing a better interactive edge to the brand engineering space in the future."

Khan will be assisted by a team of about 14 people, based in company offices in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. Some of the key appointees include Timothy Rajkumar to manage the Realm BTPS business -- South. Rajkumar comes in from Dun & Bradstreet. Ajay Gursahani has been appointed for Realm BTPS Operations South, and moves in from Percept OOH. Satish G will work for Realm Retail & Innovation -- South, and comes from Billboards India.

"The past year has been great at Realm. We saw a dream and are well on our way to realising it. In just over a year, Realm has expanded into various domains, apart from OOH. Today, Realm has a full-fledged retail and BTP solutions business that is working for many blue chip clients," says Agarwal.

The Realm Media Group intends to play a larger role in the existing OOH market in India and in Southeast Asia. Apart from OOH, the group also plans to expand in new media, entertainment, education and other diversified areas.
