YuppTV launched in India

YuppTV, which claims to be among the world's largest over-the-top (OTT) providers for Indian content, enters the Indian market with 200 plus channels in 12 languages.

YuppTV, an internet-based TV streaming service provider, launched its service in India on October 14. The launch at Taj Krishna, Hyderabad, was attended by K T Rama Rao, Minister of Panchayat Raj and IT, Government of Telangana, cricketer Brian Lara and Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra.

YuppTV, which claims to be among the world's largest over-the-top (OTT) providers for Indian content, has entered the Indian market with 200 plus channels in 12 languages. Apart from the Live TV experience, YuppTV offers Catch-Up TV technology, whereby viewers can watch TV content from past seven days.

Viewers will also have access to more than 5000 movies and a number of TV shows on their TV at the click of a button. As part of the Video-On-Demand (VOD) service, YuppTV claims to have over 25,000 hours of video content in its catalogue and 2500 hours of video is added every day.

YuppTV brings some unique features to India that enhances the TV viewing experience. These include real-time recommendations provided to viewers on most trending live TV channels and the Timeshift technology that enables broadcasters to provide viewers capability to pause and rewind live TV for up to two hours. If viewers are late for a TV show, they can watch the same from the beginning using the Start Over feature.

YuppTV service is accessible on multiple internet enabled devices - smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and also on the web. YuppTV app can be downloaded on Android and iOS devices. It is already available on select Smart TVs in India.

Addressing the audience at the launch, Uday Reddy, founder and CEO, YuppTV, said, "Our vision is to liberate entertainment, to make TV accessible to all, with a rich video viewing experience. Launch of YuppTV OTT services is in line with our vision to foster growth of digital India. Over the past few years, technology has been changing lives and YuppTV service is one of those innovations fueling this change."

YuppTV was founded in 2006; it is headquartered in Atlanta, GA, and has branch offices in the USA and India. YuppTV started with two channels and claims to have grown to deliver more than 200 plus TV channels today. YuppTV is accessible on more than 25 internet-enabled connected TVs, internet STBs, smart blu-ray players, PCs, smartphones and tablets.
