Yatra.com marks 10th anniversary celebrations with return gifts

On the occasion, the online travel and tourism company has released a campaign comprising a couple of videos created by McCann and a catchy song created by Flamingo Digital.

Online travel and tourism company Yatra.com commenced its journey in this segment a decade back. On the occasion, the company has rolled out a special promotional campaign titled 'What's a birthday without return gifts?' Between July 26 and August 5, Yatra.com is offering special deals on hotel and flight bookings. The campaign that promotes this offer comprises two videos, created by McCann.

Ashish Nath, assistant creative director, McCann Erickson, New Delhi, says, "The concept of return gifts is quite popular on birthdays. Yatra.com, on its 10th anniversary, is continuing with this tradition. The only difference is, these return gifts will be useful. So we have built the campaign with two films, around the same concept."

Also part of the anniversary communication is a lengthier video that has been created by Flamingo Digital; the peppy song 'Shubh ho yatra....' is all about wanderlust and the love for travel.

Commenting on this two-and-a-half-minute-long video, Yeshwant Miranda, national creative director, Flamingo Digital, says, "Our main idea was to encapsulate the timeline of an Indian traveller... Yatra experimented with a 'journey song' and we are confident that anyone who loves to travel with relate to it."

The song takes us through the journey of travel itself and the way it has evolved over the years.

Miranda explains, "The idea was inspired by the recent news of a Pakistani woman who travelled alone for her honeymoon to Greece when her husband was denied a visa," adding that the objective was to combine various "visual mnemonics" in the film.

The lyrics have been penned by Esha Tiwari (copywriter) of Flamingo Digital. The video footage has been outsourced from various sources. Crowd-sourcing this footage was a challenge, we learn from Miranda. The video was shot over a week.
