Partho Sengupta joins Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi, as creative director

Sengupta will be working on the non-Airtel business, particularly PVR Cinemas, Xerox and General Motors

Partho Sengupta has joined as creative director at Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi. He moves in from Dentsu Marcom, where he was also a creative director.

At Rediffusion, Sengupta would be overviewing work on the non-Airtel business, basically the PVR Cinemas, Xerox and General Motors accounts, apart from some of the new business that comes in.

Confirming his appointment to agencyfaqs! Sengupta says, “My move comes in as a result of my desire to handle more challenging brands. I plan to give my kind of perspective on the brands that fall in my kitty, which would prove beneficial for the agency. I have a good experience on cars, and I am looking forward to getting started on General Motors.”

Sengupta began his career in the advertising field 12-13 years back with Lowe (then Lintas), Kolkata. After nearly three years there, he moved on to work with Bates Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus), Delhi, as creative consultant. Later, he joined as senior art director at Mudra Communications, Delhi, where he stayed for the next three years.

After short stints at Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi and Euro RSCG, Delhi, Sengupta switched to Cheil Communications, where he was creative director for two years. From Cheil, he had a short stint at Dentsu Marcom, Delhi.

In his career, Sengupta has worked on brands such as Samsung, Sony TV and Handycams, McDonald’s, Maruti, Mitsubishi Lancer, Hyundai’s Santro Xing, Elantra and Sonata, HBO and DT Cinemas. He was instrumental in launching the ad campaign on SBI credit cards.

Talking about the projects that were close to his heart, Sengupta points out some good work that he did for Samsung and especially McDonald’s. “I used to take my son every Sunday to McDonald’s, and I was overwhelmed to see people relate to the advertising that I worked on. A lot of insight has gone in to the campaigns for the brand, and there is a strong sense of belonging towards it.”
