La Opala to advertise again; hires RK Swamy/BBDO

Some of the other agencies that were in the fray for the business include Bates Enterprise, Dentsu, JWT and O&M. The overall advertising spends are estimated to be upwards of Rs 2 crore

La Opala, the premium crockery brand, has decided to advertise again after three years. It has allocated a budget of Rs 2 crore for its plans and, in the process, has hired the services RK Swamy/BBDO. The business will be handled by the agency’s Kolkata branch.

JWT used to handle this business around three years ago. Leo Burnett and Euro RSCG have also handled the brand in the past.

It was around early November 2006 when La Opala and Solitaire, the company which owns the La Opala brand, started scouting around for an advertising agency. Bates Enterprise, Dentsu and JWT competed for the business.

As L Sridhar, president, La Opala and Solitaire, says, the company plans to double its sales in the next couple of years. Therefore the need for an advertising agency, which could provide an aggressive marketing strategy and help the brand grow. RK Swamy/BBDO was felt to be the best fit for the purpose.

Currently, La Opala will be promoted mainly through the print medium and through below-the-line activities.
