McCann Erickson's CD, art, Kapil Tammal joins Scarecrow
Mumbai, February 28, 2010
Kapil Tammal joins Scarecrow Communications, Mumbai as creative director. He moves in from McCann Erickson, Mumbai where he held the position of creative director, art. At Scarecrow Communications, Tammal will report to the agency's co-founders (cum directors) Raghu Bhat and Manish Bhatt.
His immediate mandate requires him to be responsible for the agency's recently acquired brands, namely, Henkle's Margo, Future Capital, DNA and Religare amongst others.
Interestingly, Tammal has known his new bosses since his early days at McCann. "In fact," he tells afaqs!, "Raghu and Manish hired me at McCann six years back." At the time, he had joined the agency as group head, art. He was looking for a change and this little anecdote made the present move an easy decision.
Recall that earlier this month Scarecrow had appointed Bhavik Gajjar as creative director. As is evident, the agency is actively looking to expand its creative function by roping in diverse talent. Regarding the present appointment, Bhatt says, "While Gajjar's portfolio if film-heavy, Tammal has a fine inclination towards design and art. Moreover, besides being a keen craftsman, he also has great creative ideas and understands the business really well." He thus concludes that Tammal will serve to strengthen the agency's relationship with its clients.
Tammal studied at the Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art and went on to join Concept Communication as visualiser. His next stint was as art director at Triton Communications after which he went on to Umbrella Design as senior art director. His next move was McCann Erickson where he worked for six years.
Brands he has worked with in the course of his ten year long career in the advertising industry, include Vaseline, Pears, Liril (Unilever), Maybelline (Loreal), Hanes, Wonderbra (Sara Lee), The Economic Times, Onida, Siemens, Britannia, Nerolac, NDTV, NDTV 24x7, NDTV Profit, Cathay Pacific, Shanti Badam Amla, Shanti Maha Thanda (Marico), BIG Cinemas, EsselWorld Theme Park, NEO Cricket/Sports, Indian Oil Corporation, SBI, UTI, HDFC, Artha Money, Nirlep non-stick cookware, The MobileStore, Taraash Silver Jewellery, Cocco's Café, Anando Milk, Tata Indicom, Vitaamla, Gems and Jewellery, Sandpiper beer, Eureka Forbes amongst others.
