‘Love Bites’ for Zoom viewers

Zoom is ready to rock with ‘Kuoni HotSpots’ at the weekends and ‘Love Bites’ on weekdays

All the channels are trying to entice audiences with their programming, and Zoom, the glamour and lifestyle channel, is not to be left behind. Zoom has just announced the launch of two new programmes, ‘Love Bites’ and ‘Kuoni HotSpots’.

‘Love Bites’ will premiere on February 14, Valentine’s Day, at 7 pm. The show will be hosted by Samir Kochhar (the whacky one) and Gayatri (the sensible one). The programme will have the audience reach out to the hosts with their love problems through phone calls, SMS or e-mail and the ‘desi’ agony aunts will try to solve their problems. The show, which will be telecast on weekdays, has been directed by Teher Bedi, who directed ‘Dangerous’ earlier for the same channel.

‘Kuoni HotSpots’, a travel show, will feature the places where the stars prefer to spend their holidays. The show will premiere on February 12 at 11:30 am and plans to be perfect Sunday viewing. Kuoni, the international travel group, is the title sponsor for the show. The first few episodes will showcase Singapore, ‘Superstar Virgo’ and Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.

About the choice of hosts, Aparnaa Pande, head of programming, Zoom, says, “There is a lot of brand equity with Samir Kochhar. He is very humourous too, which will help the viewers connect. Gayatri fits exactly into the Zoom profile. As does Supreet Bedi, who is the host for ‘HotSpots’.”

Isn’t ‘Love Bites’ a take-off on MTV’s ‘Loveline’? Pande retorts, “The whole engineering of Zoom is totally different from that of MTV. Both cannot be compared.” Keeping in line with the lifestyle channel tag, “the programmes will aim at urbanites in the age group of 25 to 35 years,” she adds.

Pande says, “The weekend band is already strong for Zoom. This is just a part of being fresh.”

“The marketing strategies include the on-air promotions that have started airing and offline marketing, which will happen close to the launch of the programmes,” she reveals.

But that is not all from the glamour channel. In March, Zoom plans to air two new shows, while the 13-episode reality show, ‘Banoongi Main Miss India’, will start in February.
