Channel [V] gets 8 awards at Promax & BDA Awards 2004

The Promax and BDA awards are recognized around the globe as the highest accolades

Year 2004 is going great for the Indian advertising and television fraternity. While the Indian advertising fraternity has come up with a commendable performance in Cannes, the Indian television industry is also putting up a great show.

At the recently held Promax & BDA Awards 2004 in New York, CHannel [V] became the first and only Indian music channel to win eight awards. The channel was nominated for as many as 17 categories.

The Promax awards are recognized around the globe as the highest accolade for promotion and marketing professionals working in the electronic media. Likewise, the BDA Design award has long been recognized as the ultimate accolade for outstanding design contributions in the broadcast media industries. Both the PROMAX and BDA Awards are presented to companies and individuals whose work is judged by a panel of promotion and marketing professionals using three measures: overall creativity, production quality, and results in achieving marketing objectives.

CHannel [V] has won accolades in a variety of categories ranging from art direction to image promos and from sound design to on-air sales promotion. The music channel bagged one gold and one silver BDA award, apart from one gold and six silver Promax awards.

The BDA Gold award for interstitials was awarded to CHannel [V] for 'Catch Phrases'. The channel was also awarded the BDA silver award in the art direction and design category for the special event promo of Rai University.

Rai Universities' on-air sales promotion also got CHannel [V] an Promax silver award.

There was another gold for CHannel [V,] when it received the Promax award for sound design for its promotional campaign - My Type TV - where a group of children are seen typing. The typing sound forms a music and the typed sentence is ' My Type TV - CHannel [V].

The channel also received a Promax silver for best direction. CHannel [V] received this award for Soap ID where it plays a spoof on one detergent - May be Dhulai Mein Kami Hain.

Another spoof on a competitive channel - Bug - got Channel [V] one more silver in the ID category.

An excited, Amar Deb, head, CHannel [V] who is absolutely ecstatic receiving this awards says, "I feel more proud as an Indian than as the head of the CHannel [V] to get 17 nominations and 8 awards at this year's Promax & BDA Awards."

The music channel also received two more Promax silver awards for entertainment program promotion - Solid Climax and for program campaign -- Popstars (Mohan Sharda Series).

Among other Indian channels, STAR India got 2 Promax Golds. One for public service announcement (Underprivileged children) and the other for editing ( Bhoot). Sony Entertainment Television, was also awarded the Promax Gold and BDA Bronze awards for its promotion initiatives for the flagship shows, ‘Kkusum' and ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin'. © 2004 agencyfaqs!
