Madison Outdoor's Anil Vora is now media director, buying at Starcom

Following the exit of some key people of late, the agency's buying department is being streamlined

Anil Vora, erstwhile head of client servicing at Madison Outdoor Media Services, has joined Starcom as media director, buying (west and south). & #BANNER1 & #

The last day of the year, paradoxically, was Vora's first day at Starcom. Vora, however, declines to indicate the exact nature of his responsibilities at the agency. "There is still some clarity required on that front,” he says.

The media-buying department at Starcom is seeing a churn of people of late. About three months ago, Kartik Jayaraman, who was in charge of print media buying, quit the agency. Currently, Gautam Rajgopal, group head " broadcast investments and Verghese Thomas, manager, broadcast investments, are serving their notice period. Apparently, their last day of work will be January 5, 2005.

Given these developments, the slots of both print and TV buying head stand vacant at the moment at the agency.

But Vora refuses to indicate whether he will be the overall buying head, or choose one of the portfolios.

Speculation is rife that he will be the overall buying head for both print and TV, owing to his seniority and over 15 years of media experience.

Apart from MOMS, where he worked briefly, Vora has had longish stints at Lowe, Contract and MediaCom.
