Mudra Advertising wins Silver at New York Festival

Titled 'Save Water', the TVC is a public service campaign sponsored by consumer electronics company, Electrolux

Mudra Advertising, Delhi, has won a Silver at the AME Awards (advertising and marketing effectiveness) of the New York Festivals 2005 for the 'Save Water', public service campaign sponsored by Electrolux.

Mudra, Delhi is simply ecstatic about the award. And why not? The nomination itself, which was announced last month, called for a celebration since few Indian agencies have got nominations in the TV/Film category of an international festival. Most of the nominations have been in print or outdoor.

Now that the agency has won a Silver in the TV/Film category, Saurabh Dasgupta, creative director, Mudra Communications, feels that this is a moment of reckoning for Indian agencies. "So far, we have won awards in print and outdoor. Getting recognition in TVC was hard, but the fact that we have won a metal shows that India has arrived on the global creative scene. In fact, I think this news is great encouragement for young filmmakers and writers."

McCann Erickson too has brought home laurels. The Mumbai branch has won finalist nominations for two of its films – Sweetex (in Foods category) and Perfetti's mouth freshener, Chloromint, (in the Confectionery & Snacks category).

Incidentally, Mudra is the only advertising agency in India to win an award this year.

While White Light Moving Pictures has produced the film, Arjun Mukherjee has directed the movie. The cinematographer of Save Water is Arvind Kannabiran, who has also worked on Ketan Mehta-Aamir Khan's 'The Rising'.

The AME Awards (New York Festivals) for advertising and marketing effectiveness for the 2005 recognises the most effective advertising and marketing campaigns across the world.
