NIIT calls for an agency pitch

The size of the business is in the region of Rs 15-25 crore

The top 20 Delhi agencies are in the fray for bagging the creative account of IT major NIIT. Incumbent Contract Advertising is also part of the gang. It seems the creative work will involve the cumulative businesses of NIIT – NIIT Limited (education) and NIIT Technologies (software).

The size of the business, says Sanjiv Kataria, executive vice-president, corporate communications, NIIT, is in the region of Rs 15-25 crore.

Kataria offers a reason to explain the large account size. “Because matters are still in a fluid state, it is difficult to fix the size right now. Actual spends could go up to Rs 25 crore,” he said.

Kataria, however, did not share the names of the agencies. He said that out of the 20 agencies, between six and eight agencies would be shortlisted. The shortlisting process would be based on the agencies' performance during the pitch, he added.

NIIT has asked the contenders to create a campaign on NIIT's Education product. The presentations should take place in mid-February. Besides creative presentations, another factor that will play an important role in shortlisting the agencies would be the fee that agencies quote.

Though, there are quite a few agencies in the running at the moment, company executives say ultimately NIIT would be keen on appointing only a handful of the lot.
