MTV hires Nitin Jain, Radha Baruah

The channel is refurbishing its sales team

MTV Networks India has appointed Nitin Jain as vice president - ad sales. He joins office in April, 2005.

Jain was earlier general manager – GroupM, and has a work experience of over 16 years in the advertising and media industry. He had started off his career as a systems analyst & researcher at HTA, New Delhi.

In a parallel development, Radha Baruah is joining MTV as the head of Delhi operations of MTV's new English music channel, VH1. In her new role, Baruah would be in charge of sales and brand building of the new channel.

She was earlier an associate business director at Carat Delhi. For those not aware, VH1 is a 24-hour music channel targeted at 25-to-44-year-olds. MTV describes it as its mature sibling reaching over 95.5-million households overseas.

Baruah says, “I am looking forward to my new assignment. Sales always excited me and I am happy to get back to it.” Baruah has had extensive stints at Anand Bazaar Patrika, Aaj Tak and BBC World, where she had worked in the sales department.

Carat, incidentally, was the only advertising assignment that Baruah had undertaken in her career. At Carat, Baruah was handling Phillips, Adidas, Max New York Life, Cream Bell and Dilmah Tea.
