MediaCom India flies with Emirates to Cannes

The New York Yellow Cab promotion from MediaCom India was selected from a total of 113 entries and 25 countries

MediaCom India has won the first ever MediaCom Communication Award for a promotion done for Emirates called The New York Yellow Cab promotion. The MediaCom Communication Award, which is an internal award, was instituted a few months ago with the view to foster healthy competition and encourage innovative thinking across the MediaCom global network.

The yellow cab entry was selected from a total of 113 entries and 25 countries.

The promotion was conceived for the launch of Emirates daily flights to New York, wherein hired cars were painted as New York yellow cabs and driven all over Mumbai bearing the message 'Daily non-stop to New York from Dubai'.

Supporting the on-ground promotion was a contest on Go 92.5 FM called ‘Spot the Yellow Cab’. To win a ticket to New York, callers had to submit the code number on the New York yellow cab.

Indeed, MediaCom India is excited about the felicitation. Jasmin Sohrabji, president MediaCom India, said, “Five countries made it to the finals, and for us to have won against very competitive entries from the US, Israel, Denmark and the UK was a great feeling!” The winning team’s prize is a trip to Cannes to be part of the advertising festival this year.

According to a prepared note issued by the agency, the jury were impressed by 'good insights', 'great innovation' that successfully gained PR and WOM response. “The promotion was almost simple but really powerful and self explaining,” was the jury's verdict.

To that, Alexander Schmidt Vogel, CEO MediaCom Worldwide, added, “I’m very proud to announce our first ever MediaCom Communication Award going to MediaCom India, one of our strongest units in Asia Pacific and in many aspects, a really shooting star.”

Globally, MediaCom is the sixth largest media house with billings of over $12 billion and is present in over 75 countries. Its global AORs include Warner Brothers, P&G, WV, Mars, Wrigley’s, BAT, Reebok, Groupe Danone, and 3M.
