Purple Focus wins one Gold and two Bronze at US awards show

The awards show is a well-known arbiter of creative excellence for agencies with annual billings under $20 million

Indore-based ad agency, Purple Focus, has won one Gold and two Bronze metals at the International Creative Summit Awards, in Portland, USA. This is the third year in a row when the agency has won metals at this award show.

According to an agency press release, the agency had won a Gold in 2003, and one Silver and one Bronze in 2004.

The awards show is a well-known arbiter of creative excellence for agencies with annual billings under $20 million.

More than 3,000 entries from over 20 countries including Australia, Canada, China, England, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and the US were received this year.

The creatives showcased big-time brands such as Volkswagen, BMW, Budweiser, Panasonic, 20th century Fox, Corbis, MTV and others.

The agency’s Gold winning entry is a direct mailer, which was extensively used for the launch of Naidunia, a leading regional newspaper, in Gwalior. The mailer was a simulated newspaper with some news columns cut out and removed and the message reading “Ab kata chhanta nahin, puraa sach!” (Now no more slashed or chosen, just the whole truth).

The idea was conceptualised by the agency’s creative director, Vinod Bhargav, Anurag Yadav executed the design and Aarish Nandedkar was the copywriter.

The mailer has not only worked wonders for the client but is also ranked best in the Direct Marketing - Consumer Category at the awards.

The bronze award came in the Consumer Magazine Category. It was for an advertisement designed for Pinnacle World – a contemporary Italian furniture chain. Another advertisement created by the agency, appealing to the public to use their right to vote, also won a Bronze in the Public Service Newspaper / Magazine Category.

The list does not end here. Purple Focus has also recently made a mark at the Concerned Communicator Awards organised by the Rajasthan Patrika. The agency's entry was included among the best 50 entries from a host of 900 entries sent by big and small advertising agencies of the country. The finalists included some of the top- notch agencies such as O&M, JWT, Mudra, RK Swamy/BBDO, Grey Worldwide.

Another major feat was when Purple Focus was showcased by the UK-based advertising magazine, The Reel, in an article about India's growing preeminence in the international creative circles and the agencies that have been instrumental in this creative escalation.

The Reel is a prestigious magazine of the UK, which features the best of TV, press, and poster ads, and carries articles related to advertising. Purple Focus shares the limelight with Grey Worldwide, Chennai’s 1 point Size and Six inches.

Purple Focus, this year, has also attained the status of a fully accredited agency of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS). The agency release claims very few agencies from central India have this recognition.

The agency services Eicher Motors, Pinnacle World, Maruti (MP), Kriti Industries, Indore Management Association, Tata International, Tata Indicom (Delhi and Rajasthan), Apartment Exchange, Parkash Infrastructures. © 2005 agencyfaqs!
