Dentsu Marcom bags Rs 12 crore Suzlon Energy business

The incumbent was Grey Worldwide

Suzlon Energy, Pune-based wind energy major, has awarded its advertising duties to Dentsu Marcom. The agency will handle both creative and media duties.

The account is estimated to be in the region of Rs 10 -12 crore. Suzlon was earlier serviced by Grey Worldwide.

For those not in the know, Suzlon specialises in providing total solutions in wind power generation with integration of consultancy, design, manufacturing, installation, operation and maintenance services.

In fact, Suzlon recently set up its wholly owned subsidiary, Suzlon Energy A/S in Aarhus, Denmark, which is known as a hub for wind energy. Some of the clients that Suzlon services include Ajanta Group, Bajaj Group, Tata Group, Verroc Group and John Deere.

Coming back to the win, the agency pitch process was spread over nearly four months. Agencies in the running included Mudra, Quadrant, Contract, Triton and, of course, Dentsu Marcom.

Vivek Kher, head corporate communications, Suzlon, explained why Dentsu Marcom was awarded the account. “Dentsu Marcom came across as a dedicated and committed team. We are hoping to use the Dentsu network to help us further Suzlon's footprint. We also found the agency’s ideas to be in consonance with our requirements of projecting Suzlon as an emerging world leader in green energy.”

To that Rajesh Aggarwal, executive director, Dentsu Marcom, adds, “Suzlon is a welcome addition to our new operations in Mumbai, where we have built up a very bright and energetic team in a very short time. We are delighted by the confidence reposed in us by Suzlon.”

The advertising campaign for Suzlon is expected to break by the last week of April. “Suzlon offers the kind of creative challenge that is different from handling either services or FMCGs. It is the creative canvas that excites us. The new campaign will take Suzlon into the common consciousness as a global force in renewable energy,” says Gullu Sen, chief creative officer, Dentsu India.

Suzlon now finds itself in the company of HDFC Standard Life Insurance, Raymond’s Park Avenue and Tata Corporate accounts – the other businesses handled out of the agency's Mumbai office.

In fact, Dentsu Marcom, Mumbai, is shifting to a new, sprawling 15,000 sq ft office at Tardeo on May 1.
