Lowe India wins laurels at Asian Advertising Awards

Campaign Brief Asia, as per AP Adfest, ranks the agency as the only Indian advertising agency among the top 20 creative agencies in Asia

Lowe India has done India proud at the recently concluded Asian Advertising Awards by Media Magazine Awards in Sanghai on April 21.

The agency won a ‘Spike’ (equivalent to Gold) for the Saint Gobain TVC, a ‘Finalist’ (equivalent to Silver) for Samrat Tractors, and one ‘Certificate’ each (equivalent to Bronze) for 'Save the Trees' campaign and Saint Gobain craft.

Agency executives were particularly happy that the wins came with the least number of entries.

According to informed sources, there were some 2,742 entries at the awards show. With a record number of entries this year, the judges were faced with the challenging three-day task of selecting only those entries they believed raised the bar for creative excellence.

This year, the awards presentation was held in Shanghai for the very first time, and in all, 43 Silver Spikes, five Gold Spikes and 1 Best of the Best were presented.

Euro RSCG Flagship Thailand took the coveted Best of the Best Spike at the awards for its 'Boy/Housewife' advertisements. The win capped off a big evening for the agency, which also scored five silver Spikes in other categories.

Other notable winners included JWT Thailand, which picked up two gold Spikes, while Saatchi & Saatchi Thailand and TBWAJapan both won one gold each.

Media Magazine's Asian Advertising Awards, constituted by the Hong Kong-based Media Magazine, are given away each year to honour great creative output from the Asian continent.

Till late Monday evening, no information was available on whether any other Indian agency has won awards at this festival. agencyfaqs! had earlier reported that O&M and Saatchi & Saatchi had won Finalist nominations at the festival.

Meanwhile, according to a Lowe release, Campaign Brief Asia has ranked Lowe India as the only Indian advertising agency among the top 20 creative agencies in Asia. The new rankings were as per the AP Adfest show.

At the AP Adfest, Lowe won the Silver for S-Mart Basmati (Film), the Bronze for Rexona (Outdoor), a Bronze for Saint Gobain (Film) and a Shortlist for Samrat Tractor (Film Campaign Category).

Commenting on Lowe's recent streak of international Awards, Balki, (R. Balkrishnan), national creative director, Lowe India, said, “Participation in such awards allows us to benchmark our work against the best in the world. We are very happy to know that ads made specifically for Indian audiences are being appreciated internationally, which demonstrates the strength of Lowe's creative capabilities." © 2005 agencyfaqs!
