Hyundai's Rs 50 crore media biz moves from Madison to Cheil

Earlier this year, Cheil had picked up Hyundai's creative biz as well

Hyundai Motor India (HMI) has awarded its Rs 50 crore media duties to Cheil Communications. The account moves from Madison Media.

Confirming the development, Sanjeev Shukla, manager - marketing, HMI, says, “The reason for aligning the business to Cheil was because the agency ensured complete dedication of resources to the business.”

Shukla explained that since Cheil only plans to focus on Samsung and Hyundai and not fill up its kitty with just about any business, Hyundai's account would get the full attention of the agency.

Madison Media has been in the news for winning successive pitches in the recent past. Madison, it seems, is facing a problem of plenty.

The business came Cheil's way in a direct pitch. As a result of this development, Cheil Communications would be handling Hyundai's media as well as creative businesses.

A very happy Viren Razdan, vice-president, Cheil Communications, says,“In the two years that we have been in business, we have demonstrated a high order of brand partnership and perfected the art to become an 'in-house' agency to our clients. Our work to build the corporate brand of Samsung must have struck the right chord at the Hyundai management. For the next six months, we will be solely devoting ourselves to these brands.”

Earlier this year, Cheil had picked up Hyundai's Rs 25 crore creative business for five of its cars – midsize segment car Accent, luxury sedans Sonata and Elantra, and sports utility vehicle Terracan and Tuscan. The last piece of business was won in a recent pitch and the vehicle was launched in the first week of April.
