There's some reason to cheer at Cannes, finally

JWT, O&M and Leo Burnett have done India proud at the Oscars of advertising

India has won three Lions in the Press and Outdoor segments at Cannes. The agencies which have done India proud include JWT, O&M and Leo Burnett.

In the Press category, JWT Chennai’s ‘Give’ for the Indian Red Cross has won a Silver Lion. For Outdoor, O&M has bagged a Silver Lion for its entry ‘Birds’ for A:Door, while Leo Burnett won a Bronze Lion for its client Heinz India with the entry titled ‘3 hours’.

The morale-boosting wins came after successive Indian entries returned empty-handed from the Media Lion, Lions Direct, and Cyber Lions awards.

In fact, in the Press awards, India had ten shortlisted entries and another eight in the Outdoor awards. For JWT, it was a special day as another of its entries – ‘Ideator’ -- was also a finalist.

While no official statistics are available, Indian agencies had apparently sent some 600 entries across categories to Cannes. Of this, only 22 Indian entries have been shortlisted so far across five awards.
