Former Contract CD Sabu Paul joins Brand Curry

Brand Curry plans aggressive growth with Paul joining in as creative director and partner

Sabu Paul, creative director, Mindspace, will be joining Brand Curry as creative head and partner from September. Prior to Mindspace, Paul was creative director, Contract, between 2000-03.

Confirming this development, Paul says, “At Brand Curry, I will get to explore my capabilities as a entrepreneur, while I can also fulfill my creative impulses.”

Subrata Chakraborty, managing director, Brand Curry, says, “Brand Curry is now ready to get into second phase of growth after six months of consolidation. We have an aggressive growth plan, Paul marks the beginning of this expansion plan.”

Paul has spent 14 years working for various agencies such as Mudra, Contract, TBWA, Rediffusion and DDB, Sydney. He has been instrumental in building brands such as Rasna, Amtrex, Hitachi, Dhara, Vimal, ABN AMRO, Timesjobs and Sun Pharmaceuticals.

Brand Curry, a new agency, has worked with brands, including Hero Majestic, Nirula’s, Vertex, Daawat Basmati Rice, Centerstage Mall and Khaja Chowk. The agency also has plans to open up an office in London as it plans to tap a few international clients.

As Chakraborty says, “It’s actually the time to look at the world through the eyes of India and not vice-versa. Today, one can see the increase in social confidence in all markets, irrespective of the limitations.”

He adds, “We wish to be an Indian global agency. It's embedded in the name of the agency too. "Curry" is probably one of the symbols, which the world identifies with India.”
