So many STARs on the Christmas tree

The STAR bouquet of channels has lined up special programming for its viewers for Christmas and New Year

Nowhere is the festive spirit more alive than on the STAR bouquet of channels. Setting aside new programme launches, reality shows, TVR ratings and 360-degree marketing activities, STAR has put together a programming feast that would shame the best-basted Christmas turkey.

STAR Plus will air a special episode of ‘Mum Tum Aur Hum’ on December 22 at 8 pm, which will be filled with the colours of Christmas. Nanu, the clown, who is dressed in Santa’s garb, will fill the ambience with excitement and zest, while the two teams get into the spirit of the festive occasion, singing and dancing to Christmas carols.

On December 31 at 9 pm, STAR Plus will air a one-hour special of the best of the celebrity episodes of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 2’. From 10 pm onwards, the channel has designed a special episode of ‘Baa Bahoo Aur Baby’, where the Thakkar family will have a small event titled ‘Nach Baliye’.

Simultaneously, on December 31, STAR Gold will hold the Tata Indicom ‘Super Six Pure Gold’ premiere of ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ from 10 pm onwards.

STAR One, after a comprehensive year of entertainment with shows such as ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’, ‘The Great Indian Comedy Show’, ‘Instant Khichdi’ and ‘Nach Baliye’, has also designed an amusing evening to wind up the year. On December 30, STAR One will telecast a special episode of the ‘Laughter Champions’, as they hold a special performance at the Air Force Centre in Pune. On December 31, the channel will air the three-hour grand finale episode of ‘Nach Baliye’.

The celebrations on STAR World begin at 6 pm on December 24, with the movie, ‘The Man Upstairs’, starring Katherine Hepburn and Ryan O’Neal. This will be followed at 9 pm by a two-hour performance of Elton John at the Radio City Music Hall. On December 25 from 9 pm, world-famous singer Kenny Loggins will pay his tribute to love, family and the Christmas spirit of sharing. To wrap up the Christmas special, the channel has designed a special programme called ‘Christmas Miracles’, where celebrities such as Halle Berry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Melissa Joan Hart and Richard Karn serve as Santa’s helpers and fulfil the wishes of children and their families, from specially selected letters that were written to Santa and found in the ‘dead letter’ bins of the US Postal Service.

STAR Movies begins the celebration on December 25 with the premiere of the movie, ‘Garfield’, at 9 pm. To wrap up the year, the channel will premiere ‘I-Robot’ on December 31 from 9 pm.
