Sonu Nigam will now sing the Dabur tune

The company has hired the singer for its first TVC on Honitus Cough Drops

Dabur has unveiled the new communication campaign for its cough lozenges, Honitus Cough Drops. This is the first time that the company is launching a TV commercial for the product. The campaign features singer Sonu Nigam with ‘Indian Idol’ finalist Rahul Vaidya.

A spokesperson for Dabur India says, “Who can represent a cough lozenge better than a singer? That’s why we have taken an established singer, Sonu Nigam, and a budding singer, Rahul Vaidya, in our latest TVC. After all, his voice is the most important thing for a singer.”

The advertisement shows Nigam offering Vaidya (a singing competition contestant) Honitus Cough Drops after Vaidya complains about the unpleasant tasting lozenges that are available in the market.

Targeted at teens, the ad focuses on the superior taste and relief attributes of Honitus Cough Drops, with its tagline, ‘Honitus ka real honey – khich khich kharash chalti bani’. The ads have been created by Euro RSCG and will be aired in three languages – Hindi, Bengali and Marathi.

For the record, Honitus Cough Drops is available in three flavors, Honey-Lemon, Honey-Mentha and Honey-Ginger, and is priced at Re 1 per cough drop.
