'Deal Ya No Deal' to be revamped

The revamped show will be hosted by Mandira Bedi and will be aired from 25th of this month

Sony's much publicised game show 'Deal Ya No Deal' is in for a major makeover. The show hosted by film star R. Madhavan, will see a new anchor, Mandira Bedi, in its new avatar, 'Deal Ya No Deal Series 2'. To be telecast at its usual timings, the show will be on air from January 25.

Commenting on the introduction of the new series, Tarun Katial, executive vice-president and business head, Sony Entertainment Television, says, “Considering the interest the show has generated and the response from our viewers, we have decided to add a few key elements to make the show razor sharp. These new elements will double the excitement and thrill.”

Nina Jaipuria, vice-president, marketing and communication, Sony Entertainment Television, adds, “We wanted to bring in changes in our show for which we had to change our shooting schedule. Since Madhavan had his film assignments he could not spare more time, so he quit the show.”

Among the many changes proposed are new sets, more drama, glitz and glamour. Beautiful models will be called upon to give the briefcases to the participants. However, the show will continue with its simple and easy format.

Jaipuria says, “Basically, the idea is to have many small games within the big game. Hence we have included segments such as a surprise gift in the briefcase which the participants can take away. We want to make it more interesting for our participants as well as the viewers.”

Jaipuria adds, “We are hopeful that the show will scale new heights with Mandira Bedi adding glitz and glamour to the show.” Bedi has already anchored the channel's popular show, 'Fame Gurukul'.
