Jyothsna Y joins Lowe, Bangalore, as senior brand planning director

Jyothsna Y has moved from Mudra South and joined Lowe, Bangalore, as senior brand planning director. At Mudra, she was manager, strategic planning.

Jyothsna’s appointment follows that of PA Ram Prasad, who joined Lowe, Bangalore, in December 2005 as vice-president, planning, South.

Jyothsna says, “At Lowe, my role will be to draw insights on existing brands and contribute towards an enriching experience for these brands. I will be involved in handling all mainstream brands, including Tanishq, Titan FasTrack and Britannia.”

Why did she join Lowe? Jyothsna says, “There has been a desire to be a part of the creative brilliance of Lowe, which has an earthy feel, yet manages to strike a chord with the consumers. The agency has an aura of ‘I wish I could have thought of it!’ The brands that Lowe has in its portfolio are leaders in their category and have created a place for themselves in the consumer mind space.”

Jyothsna started her career in market research and then moved to planning in advertising, and she feels that her experience makes her comfortable in data analysis and interpretation. She feels that both qualitative and quantitative analyses are imperative to draw consumer insights and then apply them to brands. She also feels that her past experience in number crunching makes her disciplined as a planner as she has a logical approach to research.

Jyothsna started her career with market research company Gallup and then moved to Research International. After working in market research for four and a half years, she shifted gears and joined FCB-Ulka Bangalore in 2001, after which, in October 2003, she joined Mudra.

In her career, she has worked for clients such as HLL (food and beverages), Britannia (cheese), BPL Mobiles, BPL Home Appliances, Henkel (Fa range of deodorants), TVS Suzuki, Madura Garments and Jyothi Laboratories.
