DAC expecting 2,000 entries for its national awards

The Delhi Advertising Club (DAC) recently held a meeting to discuss the proposed DAC National Awards for Excellence in Advertising

The Delhi Advertising Club (DAC) is expecting close to 2,000 entries for its national awards, the ceremony for which is slated to take place in the third week of April. A meeting held recently by the DAC discussed the details of what would be the branding of the event, which is called the DAC National Awards for Excellence in Advertising. The meeting also discussed the composition of the jury, the positioning of the DAC profile, exploring media partnerships with leading print, online and television channels, and how the awards committee would be formed.

Going a step further in its endeavour to take the Delhi awards to a national level, the DAC discussed the nitty-gritty involved in all this. The club had earlier announced its plan to encompass players across the country, instead of just Delhi based players.

VK Chopra, president, DAC, says, “The meeting helped us touch upon a gamut of topics relating to the awards. Several suggestions were made and we will try to incorporate these to improve upon the final product.”

Chopra continues, “We are also looking at exploring the possibility of opening participation for the awards to all the SAARC countries.”

The meeting proposed to hold a creative show for all the entries received and came up with the idea of publishing a book on the entries. The book will be a way of generating revenue as well.

The awards will have some innovative categories such as ‘Event/Non-Tradition Idea’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Creative Shows’, ‘Creative Business Ideas’. They will also include various ministries of the Government of India.

The meeting was chaired by DAC president VK Chopra along with honorary general secretary Narinder Sharma. Others from the advertising fraternity who attended the meeting included Atulit Saxena and Sita Raina (Euro RSCG), Rupam Borah (Leo Burnett), Rajat Meresh (Madison), Viral Pandya (Out of the Box), Shantomoy Ray (K Factor), Bashab Sarkar (Media Pros), Titus Upputuru (O&M) and Rajnish Gogia (ABP Pvt. Ltd).
