Sam Balsara to discuss media issues at Malaysian Media Congress

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Media – Who is Calling the Shots?’, and Balsara is expected to deliver his views on the topic, ‘Focusing on the Future of Media’

The sixth Malaysian Media Congress is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur on March 29, 2006. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Media – Who is Calling the Shots?’ Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director, Madison Communications, has been invited as a special guest to deliver a speech on the topic, ‘Focusing on the Future of Media’.

The congress will focus on the current issues and challenges being faced by advertising and media agencies, with the aim of discovering solutions that are mutually acceptable to all the stakeholders.

Several topics are expected to be covered at the congress, including interactive media, the explosion of mobile marketing and 3G, the concept of pay TV, the phenomenon of free newspapers and how interesting retail media actually is. Around 300 veterans from the media fraternity of Singapore and Malaysia are expected to attend.

Balsara remarks, “I hope to share my views with professionals from countries that have achieved significant growth and development in the past decade. I also hope to pick up some useful insights from those markets and share them with the media fraternity in India.”

Some of the other speakers at the event include media experts such as Seshadri Sampath of BBDO, Singapore; Jeffrey Seah of the Starcom Mediavest Group; Dato Ahmad Farid Ridzuan of Media Prima TV Networks; and David Butorac of Measat Broadcast Network Systems.
