Starcom revamps its senior management team

While Indranil Dutta has replaced Dinesh Singh Rathore as executive director and head of Starcom’s Bangalore branch, Rathore has shifted to Mumbai as head of the agency’s investment group

Starcom MediaVest Group has beefed up its senior management team. Indranil Datta, who was media consultant at Bates, Colombo, till recently, has joined the group as executive director at the media agency’s Bangalore branch.

Dutta will be at the same level as Manish Porwal, who is executive director, Starcom, India West.

Dinesh Singh Rathore, media director, who was head of Starcom’s Bangalore office, has been shifted to Mumbai to head the agency’s investment group. Rathore will report to Manish Porwal.

As Ravi Kiran, CEO, South Asia, Starcom MediaVest Group, puts it, “Shifting Rathore to Mumbai was based on his personal requirement. We also needed someone in Mumbai to handle a significantly larger investment volume for the India Investment Group. So, his requirement and our need matched well.”

Kiran says, “Rathore has been one of our best performing managers and he has successfully built up Starcom’s Bangalore operations rapidly over the last five years, making it a top three agency in that market.”

Meanwhile, Datta, who has moved from Bates, Colombo, was earlier with Zenith Optimedia. Dutta started his career with FCB Ulka in 1989 and, since then, he has worked for several agencies such as Bates Enterprise (then Clarion), Lowe (then Lintas), Ogilvy & Mather and Zenith. At Zenith, he headed the Delhi branch for five years, before it was rechristened Zenith Optimedia. Dutta has spent a large part of his professional life in Mumbai.

Rathore has been with Starcom since March 2000, two months after Starcom Worldwide was formed in India. Rathore, who has spent around 10 years in the industry, has spent the other half of his career at Mudra, Ahmedabad.
