Krishnamachar, senior vice-president, planning, Lowe, has called it quits. At Lowe, Krishnanmachar was a national resource and he used to handle business outside Mumbai - in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.
He now plans to pursue his dreams outside advertising. What could be gathered from sources close to this development is that Krishnamachar will be involved in a start-up project, something about which he is really passionate. However, Krishnamachar declined to say anything further on this.
Krishnamachar says, "When I joined Lowe two years ago, we were looking at getting a foothold in planning and I think we have done well on that count. Today, we have a fairly good planning team in place in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai."
He continues, "Planning is an integral bridge among client, consumer and creative and a critical part of the advertising function. If not better, planners are certainly well-equipped to handle this responsibility."
Commenting on Krishnamachar's decision to move beyond Lowe, Pranesh Misra, president and COO, Lowe, says, "Harish (Krishnamachar) has been a fantastic resource and has contributed immensely to the agency. His take on 'what model of planning' should be used, especially, has been of great help."
Misra adds, "I wish him all the best for his new venture as it is his passion which he is out to pursue and I hope that it works out well for him."
Misra informs us that Lowe is exploring the possibility of retaining Krishnamachar on a consultant basis.
In his career spanning 20 years, Krishnamachar has straddled both sides of the industry, be it with an advertising agency or in marketing. He has worked with agencies such as Lintas and Mudra. Prior to joining Lowe, he was vice-president, marketing, with TVS. He has worked on brands across categories, including LG, Britannia and Maruti.
Aditi Patwardhan will move from Lowe, Mumbai, to Delhi as associate vice-president.
