Zee Sports, Prasar Bharati to market DLF Cup India-Pakistan series jointly

Zee Sports and DD have agreed on a 75:25 revenue share agreement

Zee Sports and Doordarshan will jointly market the two One-Day International DLF Cup India-Pakistan series. The friendship series will be held on April 18 and April 19 at the Zyed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. According to the agreement, Zee Sports and DD will share the revenue in a 75:25 ratio, with the larger amount going to Zee Sports.

Zee Sports had recently bagged the overseas telecast rights for the BCCI matches to be played in all neutral territories outside India – the matches played in non-ICC member countries – from April 1, 2006, to March 31, 2011. As part of the deal, 25 matches will be played over a period of five years, with an average of five matches per year.

According to the official communique, Himanshu Mody, business head, Zee Sports, says, “India-Pakistan series have always been some of the most-watched events on Indian television. This means a new high for Zee Sports. Besides this, the tie-up with Prasar Bharati comes in at a very good time as it is the biggest public broadcaster with an immense reach.”

Mody adds, “The tie-up will mean world-class coverage, which would mean that advertisers can reach the different target groups through both channels.”
