Infosys on the lookout for agencies for domestic and international operations

Infosys is reportedly looking for agencies within India for its recruitment ads, direct marketing, CRM and above-the-line activities in order to further its brand in India and, more particularly, to make it a strong one abroad. As per sources close to the development, the spends are pegged at Rs 8-10 crore

Infosys is looking for ad agencies, not just for its operations in India, but also for building Infosys as a brand abroad in markets such as the US and the UK. Infosys wants to bring an agency on board that can help map its strategies pertaining to DM, CRM, events, seminars, recruitment ads, Internet-related work, the use of non-traditional media and even a certain amount of above-the-line activities, mainly print.

As per sources close to the development, Infosys’ spends for these activities are in the region of Rs 8-10 crore. It is further learnt that a few key agencies, among them Grey Worldwide, have been briefed about the pitch, but none of them have made any presentations as yet. It is learnt that McCann-Erickson, too, was invited for the pitch, but backed out later on its own accord.

Lowe and Pinxit Blue handle the recruitment ads for Infosys in India now, and it is being said that these agencies, too, may pitch for the business. “This is the first time that Infosys is roping in an agency to handle its clientele abroad,” a source informed agencyfaqs!

While Infosys is a strong brand in India, it wishes to establish a strong foothold in markets abroad and build its brand there as well. For that purpose, the agencies have been asked to present their understanding of the market dynamics abroad, the local issues in those markets, and an in-depth study of potential competitors in each of those markets. Keeping its international needs in mind, it is particularly looking for ad agencies from India which have a strong global network presence/tie-ups.

So far, Infosys has indulged in PR mostly to do the job as far as India is concerned.

When contacted, a senior official at Infosys didn’t offer a clear statement, instead, he tried to dismiss the development as ‘speculation’.

For the record, Infosys Technologies Ltd has its presence in several countries in addition to India, including the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, China, Japan, the UAE, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany and Italy. It provides consulting and IT services to clients globally as a partner in conceptualising and realising technology driven business transformation initiatives. It has over 58,000 employees worldwide.
