IMG India appoints Balu Nayar as managing director

Nayar will step into his new job on October 3. Prior to this, he was regional director of Yahoo! South Asia

Balu Nayar has been appointed the new managing director of IMG India. Nayar replaces Ravi Krishnan who departed from the company in April this year. He continues to be a consultant to IMG. Nayar will take up his new job on October 3. Prior to this, he worked as the regional director of Yahoo! South Asia.

His mandate at IMG will be to consolidate the functions and operations of the company as a whole throughout the country.

Nayar has an expansive career spanning across industries such as the internet, mobile, television and advertising. Based in Singapore, Nayar was instrumental in driving the mobile and broadband initiatives in the region for Yahoo!’s Connected Life Business Unit. He has also led the value-added services business at Hutchison Max Telecom and headed marketing function at STAR India in his earlier roles.

Andrew Wildblood, senior vice-president IMG and senior corporate director, IMG India, says, “With his kind of experience and diverse skills, Balu (Nayar) will efficiently direct the company through many upcoming opportunities and challenges in the Indian media and sports markets.”

For the record, IMG is has diversified global business with two major business segments, i.e. IMG Sports & Entertainment and IMG Media.

Some of the services offered by IMG Sports & Entertainment include consulting services, event ownership and management, fashion events and models representation, licensing and client representation in various sports. IMG Media includes content production subsidiaries TWI, Darlow Smithson Productions (DSP) and Tiger Aspect Productions (TAP). It is recognised globally for delivery of traditional and new media content and services, with Internet, broadband and mobile expertise.
