Reed Infomedia consolidates; ‘JCK’ to launch on September 28

Reed Infomedia, the result of a 51:49 joint venture between Reed Business International and Infomedia India, is launching its first magazine in India and has plans to launch several others in the next one year

Reed Infomedia, which was formed as a result of a 51:49 joint venture between Reed Business International and Infomedia India Ltd in December 2005, is all set to launch its first title, ‘JCK’, this Thursday (September 28, 2006). ‘JCK’ is available in the United States under Reed Business International and has been licensed and adapted to India by Reed Infomedia.

‘JCK’ is primarily a B2B magazine, catering to manufacturers, merchants and retailers at large. It will be a monthly magazine and will be priced at Rs 100 per copy. Initially, the magazine will opt for controlled circulation; a subscription model has also been worked out at Rs 800 for a year.

The initial print run for ‘JCK’ will be 10,000 copies and the magazine aims to increase its circulation to 20,000 copies in a span of six-eight months. In the US, the magazine enjoys a circulation of 70,000 copies.

The first issue, says Suresh Ramakrishnan, executive vice-president and country head, Reed Infomedia, will have 50 per cent content from the US and 50 per cent content from India. But after a few issues, the ratio of international and Indian content will change to 30:70 to accommodate more India-centric information.

Talking about the content of ‘JCK’, Ramakrishnan says, “India has a huge population of people in the jewellery business and everybody who is a part of this trade is curious to know what is happening worldwide.” The magazine, he says, will be targeted at SEC A and B classes in metros and places such as Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Punjab, etc., where the jewellery business dominates.

Despite its B2B format, the magazine hopes to attract the masses as well because of its simple, contemporary and in-depth content.

Reed Infomedia has sent direct mailers to about 6,000 people who are part of the trade. It will also hold a trade exhibition in Delhi on September 28, at which ‘JCK’ will be launched.

In the next one year, Reed Infomedia will launch two other magazines called ‘Variety’ and ‘Logistics Management’.

Reed Infomedia has also made a few appointments to consolidate its team. Heading the marketing division is Navjeet Ganguly. Bhavesh Thakur will head sales and Anand Pandey has been appointed assistant editor. All three have moved in from Jasubhai Digital Media.
