Bigger role for Anirban Mozumdar of Leo Burnett

Mozumdar, who was brand partner, Leo Burnett, Mumbai, has been elevated to the post of regional brand director on the P&G laundry brands in the AAI (ASEAN, Australia and India) region

Anirban Mozumdar, brand partner, Leo Burnett, Mumbai, has landed himself some more responsibility at the agency. He has been elevated to the post of regional brand director on P&G’s laundry brands in the AAI (ASEAN, Australia and India) region. He will report to Chaitan Rao, regional account director on all P&G brands in the AAI region. He will work out of Leo Burnett, Manila.

Mozumdar’s new mandate includes looking after P&G’s laundry business, which is in Burnett’s custody, including brands such as Tide (the Philippines, India, Vietnam), Mr Clean (the Philippines), Perla (the Philippines), Fab (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore) and Trojan (Malaysia).

“I need to come up with big, holisitic ideas that accelerate these brands and business growth through creative excellence that will make these brands popular and emotionally connect with consumers,” says Mozumdar.

Commenting on his elevation, Chaitan Rao remarks, “P&G is a very important business partner for us at Leo Burnett. We have always tried to find the best talent within the network to help build our P&G brands and India has become our favourite hunting ground for the best talent in the network. We have seen a consistency in terms of the quality of people that work in our Indian offices. Anirban proved to us quickly that not only was he adept at understanding the India dynamics, but he was also beginning to provide inputs on a regional basis. He was our best bet.”

Mozumdar joined Leo Burnett, Mumbai, in 1998. He started off by working on Bajaj Auto (including the Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber launch). Till 2004, Bajaj was his main domain of work. Along the years, he has worked on UDV Scotch brands such as Johnnie Walker, Black & White, VAT 69, Schindler and Kellogg’s (the launch of Cheez-it). Some of his most memorable projects include the work done for the Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber launch, Bajaj Eliminator, the Tide campaign and HDFC Standard Life.

Before being assigned this new responsibility, Mozumdar was leading the P&G account in India (Tide, Rejoice and Whisper India) and HDFC Standard Life Insurance. While in India, he also tried his hand at planning.

After passing out of MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications), Ahmedabad, in 1997, Mozumdar started off at Rediffusion DY&R, where he worked for Tata-BP (the Tata and British Petroleum joint venture), TELCO, Piaget Watches and Ahmed Mills (the Postman and Tilola cooking oil brands). From there, he moved to Leo Burnett and has been there ever since.
