Kumar will move from SC Johnson, where he is category head, pest control

Mudra Communications will soon have Amit Kumar as the new head of its account planning function. Kumar will move in from SC Johnson, where he is category head, pest control.

Kumar is expected to assume his new position beginning December 2006.

Kumar has been in advertising throughout his career and he has worked in several advertising agencies such as Leo Burnett, McCann-Erickson (then PSL McCann), Triton Communications and FCB-Ulka. However, a year ago, he decided to move to the other side of the fence, when he joined SC Johnson, a US based company.

Kumar, a management graduate from IMT, Ghaziabad, of the 1992 batch, started his career at Leo Burnett, Mumbai. Soon he moved to Delhi and worked with PSL McCann and later with Triton. He has also spent six years in FCB-Ulka. In the advertising sector, Kumar has donned many roles – in media planning, research, client servicing and account planning.

Says Kumar, “I have enjoyed being in the advertising industry. Though increasingly, I have felt that agencies need to communicate beyond TVCs and press ads. Mudra wants to create a structure which goes beyond the usual advertising. We shall work towards finding media neutral solutions. The media approach to brand building is what I shall be working on.”
