SET beats STAR at the Promax BDA Asia Awards

At the Promax Asia Awards that concluded yesterday, Sony Entertainment Television emerged with the maximum awards followed by STAR India. SET fetched a total of fifteen awards across categories

Television channels from India had reasons to rejoice at the Promax BDA Asia Awards 2006, as they swept majority of the awards this year. Leading the list is Sony Entertainment Television with a total of fifteen metals this time, comprising of five golds and ten silvers. STAR India came in second, among the Indian television companies with five golds and three silvers.

Sony Entertainment Television’s five golds came from SET MAX’s ‘Best Out-of-House Station Image Promo’ for ‘Parakeet’, SAB’s ‘Best Entertainment/Variety Promo’, ‘Best Entertainment/Variety Campaign’ and ‘Best Sound Design’ for ‘Lo Kal-Lo Baat’ and SET MAX’s ‘Best Special Event Promo’ for ‘ICC Super Series’.

The ten silver metals were awarded to SET for SET PIX’s ‘Best Out-of-House Station Image Promo’, ‘Best Sound Design’ and ‘Best Animation’ for PIX, SAB’s ‘Best Drama Promo’ for ‘Twinkle Beauty Parlour’ and ‘Best Reality Promo’ for ‘Lo Kal-Lo Baat’, Sony’s ‘Best Drama Campaign’ for ‘Thodi Khushi Thode Gham’ launch and ‘Best Reality Campaign’ for ‘Deal Ya No Deal’ launch, SET MAX’s ‘Best Sports Campaign’ for ‘ICC Super Series’, ‘Best Sports Promo’ for ‘How To Beat Australia Contest’ and ‘Best Entertainment/Variety Campaign’ for MAX (Mad About Movies).

Following SET closely is STAR India with equivalent number of golds but fewer silvers. STAR India fetched the golds for Channel V’s ‘Best In House Station Image Promo’ and ‘Best On-Air Ident’ for ‘Guns & Roses’, ‘Best Programme Title Sequence’ for ‘Channel V Sundays Open’, STAR One’s ‘Best Reality Campaign’ for ‘Nach Baliye’ and lastly for Channel V’s ‘Best Original Logo Design’ for ‘V Buzz’.

Channel V’s ‘Best Editing’ for ‘Freedom Express’, ‘Best Interactive Promo’ for ‘Now or Never Contest’ and STAR One’s ‘Best Programme Title Sequence’ for ‘Mano Ya Na Mano’ won a silver each.

Walt Disney India won two golds for Toon Disney’s ‘Best Children’s Programme Promo’ for ‘Bhoot Power Rangers’ and ‘Best Interstitial’ for ‘Bhoot Rap’. The two silvers were given awarded to Disney Channel for ‘Best Children’s Programme Campaign’ for ‘That’s so Raven Summer Campaign’ and ‘Best Special Event Promo’ for ‘Masti Ki Paathshala’.

MTV Networks India also won four metals in all, of which, three are gold and one silver. MTV bagged the golds for ‘Best Holiday/Seasonal Promo’ for ‘MTV Style Awards’, ‘Best Editing’ for VH1 At the Movies’ and ‘Best Sting’ for ‘VH1 At the Movies Sting’, while the silver came for ‘Best Entertainment/Variety Promo’ for ‘MTV Style Check’.

Apart from these channels, others such as Sahara India, Zee Telefilms, Television Eighteen and MCCS also fetched a few metals. Zee Telefilms managed to bag one gold only, while Sahara bagged two golds and one silver. Televsion Eighteen got two golds and MCCS was awarded one gold and silver each.
