Mausumi Kar moves from Initiative to ESPN

At Initiative, Kar headed the Maruti business. She has joined ESPN as associate director, research and planning

Mausumi Kar has joined ESPN as associate director, research and planning. She moves here from Initiative, where she was head of the Maruti business.

At ESPN, she will report to Sanjay Kailash, V-P, ad sales and business development.

Kar has spent 14 years in the advertising industry. She started her career in client servicing with Grey Worldwide (then Trikaya Grey), Kolkata, in 1993, and went on to join Mudra Communications, Delhi, in 1994. After working there for a year, she moved back to Grey.

Later, she switched over to the media function and joined Vibrant Media, an ABCL-Mudra joint venture. From Vibrant, she moved to Bates Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus), where she spent two years. This was followed by a short stint at McCann Erickson.

In 2001, she joined Initiative to move to MPG for a short while.

In her career span, she has worked on accounts such as Reckitt Benckiser, Nestle, Mother Dairy, Siemens, Toshiba, Daewoo, Madura Garments, Bata, Dunlop and Oriental Insurance.
