Ajit Narayan, who
has had various stints at entities such as Ogilvy One (Bangalore), as head and branch manager, and 'Hindustan Times', where he was deputy general manager, media marketing, has now has joined 141 Sercon, the integrated marketing services arm of Bates Enterprise. He moves in from Wunderman, which he had joined in August, 2006. While there, he was functioning as the vice-president and country head on the Microsoft account. Narayan will now be a consultant on strategy, account planning and knowledge at 141 Sercon.
Based in Bangalore, he will report to Sercon managing director, Vijay Singh and director Rajesh Ghatge for the various verticals. Narayan has been in the direct response industry for about 15 years in a row, and has worked across many domains. He has now decided to focus on consulting and planning.
Narayan says his movement to 141 Sercon is a matter of sheer coincidence. "I had this idea lurking in my mind for quite some time," he says. "Luckily, an opportunity came by and I grabbed it."
Narayan will look after CRM (Customer Relationship Management), response marketing and loyalty. He will be making contributions to the knowledge management process within the organisation, besides pitching for new businesses on the telecom vertical. He believes that planning as a discipline is the lesser-known creative function in the BTL space. In a way, he will make efforts to make it a dominant function.
In his career span, Narayan has worked on brands such as Compaq, Bank of America, Escotel, Spice Telecom, ITC, Coats, Monster.com, Hutch and Ford.
