Future Group floats Future Media, strengthens team

Future Media will be involved in creating media properties. Hemant Shah is the chief operating officer for the company, while Anup Kotekar and V Jaishankar have been roped in as business directors

Future Group has recently floated a new media company called Future Media. The new company will be involved in creating properties across the visual, audio-visual (television and radio) and print media.

These will provide brands a medium to communicate to consumers. The media vehicles will be from Future Group retail properties such as Pantaloons, Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar and Central. The company has already started generating business for its properties such as the recent innovative activity with live models for a news channel, bags branded by a radio station, kiosks, etc.

Four appointments have been made for the new media company. Hemant Shah, who has been with Pantaloons for the last one year, has been moved to head this new division as the chief operating officer. Prior to this, Shah was with Madison.

Also, Anup Kotekar and V Jaishankar have been roped in as business directors for two divisions. Kotekar will head the audio-visual division, which will involve the use of television and radio in the retail properties, while Jaishankar will look after the visual division.

Kotekar was earlier with Group M's BroadMind, where he was handling cinema and multiplex solutions. Between 1992 and 2004, he was with Response at The Times of India. Jaishankar has media selling experiences at Zee Group and The Times of India.

Partho Dasgupta, chief executive officer, Future Media, explains, “The new appointments have been made keeping in mind the need to create media properties that are visual, audio-visual (television and radio) and print in nature, within the Future Brand.”
