KBC going through a slippery patch

As we scrutinize the ratings for the second week since the launch of KBC 3, we discover that from two-digit ratings it is slipping to one digit, and rather inconsistently at that

Whether or not it is premature to derive conclusions, the third season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', has the media fraternity biting their nails as they scrutinise its performance in detail. There were expectations, and there will be even more, but the ratings tend to disappoint.

TAM Media Research has thrown up some more ratings for the week following the show's launch, which suggest a steep decline in viewership in the C&S 4+, Hindi speaking markets. The launch week concluded on a TVR of 9.2 on January 25, while the launch day recorded a TVR of 12.3.

KBC going through a slippery patch
An optimist would have thought the following week would open on a better note, but the TVR recorded on Monday, January 29, was a mere 8.8. The very next day, it went up to 9, only to slide back to 8.4 on Wednesday, January 31.

The week, however, concluded on a positive note. With a TVR of 10 on February 1, it may not be wrong to expect the ratings to soar in the following weeks.

Its relative channel share, in the 9 pm to 10 pm band from Monday to Thursday, continues to be considerable at 54 per cent. ZEE, which was at par with STAR Plus before the launch of KBC 3, has managed a 24 per cent share.
