KVL Narayan Rao elevated as CEO of NDTV Group

Rao was previously NDTV's director for human resources, administration and operations

NDTV has elevated KVL Narayan Rao as the chief executive officer of NDTV Group. He was earlier director of human resources, administration and operations for the company. He has been associated with NDTV for the last 12 years and was responsible for the transition and growth of NDTV from a production house to a broadcaster.

In this newly created designation, Rao will oversee the businesses of NDTV Group in India and worldwide, in an effort to make it a company recognised across the globe for its high standards and achievements.

On his elevation, Prannoy Roy, chairman, NDTV, says, "Narayan is the best person in NDTV, with the requisite experience in broadcast media. His skills and understanding of the organisation make him an obvious fit for the post."

Rao will look after NDTV Group which includes NDTV Limited and NDTV Network TV. These include the existing NDTV channels and the new channels, new businesses in the entertainment and lifestyle space, media process outsourcing and the Internet.

Rao began his career as a journalist with 'The Indian Express' after which he joined the Indian Revenue Service and served in different roles, including Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax and Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. He has a masters' degree in English literature, has also graduated from the National Academy of Direct Taxes, and has a Management Diploma in Public Finance from IIAP/ENA, Paris.
