has got a new head for its Chennai branch. Sunil Thoppil has moved in from Grey Worldwide, where he was creative director. He replaces Girish Chandrashekhar who quit the agency recently after a long stint of eight years.
Here, Thoppil will report to Dileep Ashoka, vice-president and general manager, South, McCann Erickson.
Educated as an engineer, Thoppil has 17 years of experience in the field of advertising. He started his career as a copywriter with an advertising agency based in Bangalore in year 1990. He was instrumental in setting up operations for TBWA in Kerala in the year 1999. He officiated as branch head and creative director and remained associated with TBWA for the next eight years. Later, he moved to Chennai and had a short stint with Rediffusion DY&R before moving to Grey Worldwide as creative director.
A few brands that Thoppil has worked on during his career span include Kerala Tourism, Malayalam Manorama, Crocodile Apparels, Pondicherry Tourism, Citibank, Airtel and Kiwi.
Commenting on Thoppil's appointment, Ashoka says, "Sunil (Thoppil) brings with him a unique combination of abilities and a sound understanding of the Indian psyche, which I am sure he will bring to bear on the task at hand."
