Cairn India looking for agencies in India

Three Delhi-based agencies have already made presentations, but it is learnt that the company may call a few more agencies. The oil and gas exploration company intends to build the Cairn brand in India

Cairn India is on the look out for an advertising agency to establish the Cairn brand in India. The oil and gas exploration company has already met up with a few agencies. The agencies that have already participated in the pitch are Bates David Enterprise, Grey Worldwide and Rediffusion DY&R.

According to informed sources, besides these three, some other agencies might also be called to present their strategy.

Cairn India is an oil and gas exploration and production company and is promoted by Scotland-based Cairn Energy plc.

According to sources, there was no specific brief given to the agencies, but because Cairn plans to establish its brand in India, corporate advertising is what it is seeking. The agencies will be evaluated on the basis of their understanding of the Cairn brand.

Executives from Cairn Energy refused to comment on the development, saying only that it was too early to confirm anything because the company was still working on it. Also, Cairn’s advertising budget is not known.

For the uninitiated, Cairn India had launched its IPO (initial public offer) in November 2006. Cairn Energy plc currently owns a 69.5 per cent stake in Cairn India.
