TV18 forays into event business under Farhad Wadia

Farhad Wadia was the torchbearer of the Independence Rock Festival for almost 20 years

The TV18 Network is all set to roll out its events-cum-entertainment arm in the next two-three days. And joining this division as its CEO is Farhad K Wadia, the man who was the torchbearer of the Independence Rock Festival for almost 20 years.

“I have joined TV18’s soon-to-be-launched event arm as CEO,” confirms Wadia.

Wadia has moved in from HT Media, where he was V-P, events and marketing, since February 2006. Prior to joining HT Media, Wadia led a radio station and event management business in Dubai. He is a graduate in economics and also holds a degree in sound engineering/music from London.

So, what will the new arm be called? “We haven’t yet figured out the name. It’s either e-18 or entertainment-18,” reveals Wadia.

The good old daddy of Indian rock, Wadia is known for his vocal talents and is highly regarded as the promoter of Mumbai’s Independence Rock. He’s been at the helm of the scene for well over two decades.

Sources say the arm will provide complete solutions for all below the line activities.

The company is expected to organise corporate events – including product launches, corporate seminars, meets and conferences, retail marketing programmes, including product promotions, road shows, promotion audits and display promotions, event marketing, including sponsorships, barter tie-ups and event promotion, and special events such as concerts and award nights.
