Anooj Kapoor named business head of SAB

He replaces Vikas Bahl who quit SAB to join UTV’s motion picture brand ‘Spotboy’

SAB has appointed Anooj Kapoor as business head. He replaces Vikas Bahl who has joined UTV’s second motion picture brand Spotboy as executive vice-president. He had been with SAB for about a year and half.

Kapoor brings with him over 16 years of experience. He will primarily focus on driving strategic creative initiatives and developing the right programming mix for the channel.

Kapoor has varied experience across the FMCG, advertising and film industries. He started his career with Colgate- Palmolive and then moved on to advertising where he spent six years in agencies such as HTA and Rediffusion DY&R and Lowe.

Later, in the year 2000, he started his own production house, ‘Creative Compass’ where in he wrote, directed and produced ads across several brands like Parachute hair oil , Hair & Care, Saffola, Sil jam and Revive starch. He then joined UTV as the creative director in 2003 and creates programmes such as ‘Shararat’ and ‘Shaka laka boom boom’.

Some of his other creations on television include ‘Chonch ladi re chonch’ for Channel 9, a comic detective serial for kids for Hungama channel titled ‘Kabhi hero kabhi hero’ and ‘Hum do hain na’ for Sony. He also has a penchant for writing jingles, screen plays for films and lyrics.
