Radio City gets a new programming head from Mediacorp

Nik martin has about 22 years of radio experience

Radio City 91.1 FM has roped in Nik Martin from Mediacorp Radio, Singapore, as national programming head. Martin has about 22 years of experience in the radio industry. He replaces Vikas Varma who moved out of Radio City in March this year.

Martin hails from UK and has been associated with the radio field since the age of sixteen as a radio jockey. He has worked with media companies such as Capital Radio, EMAP and BSkyB in UK.

In his new role, Martin will head the national creative team at Radio City and will be based at the head office in Mumbai. He will work on the program mix for Radio City's and also lead all national programming initiatives. His key area of focus will be to further build on innovative programming content.

Martin began his career as a radio jockey at Chiltern Radio in UK and was the youngest to join Radio Luxembourg, broadcasting across Europe. Later, he joined EMAP’s Piccadilly Radio in Manchester where he was appointed head of production. He also worked on the programming for London’s Capital Radio for its stations -- Power FM and Ocean FM.

He has worked for international media companies such as Channel 4 FM, Dubai, and Mediacorp, Singapore. In Dubai he was part of the launch management team for the first private radio station in the United Arab Emirates. “His experience in this space is immense, with expertise and knowledge from international radio industry. That with our in-house talent will surely provide an unmatched listening experience to our listeners” says Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City 91.1 FM.
