After Bharti Retail, can JWT do an encore with DTH?

The Bharti Telemedia pitch for its DTH service will be closed by the end of the week, and here, too, JWT is in the final race

JWT winning the advertising duties for Bharti Retail is history. The action has now shifted to DTH. And as the week will come to a close, the victor in the battle to procure Bharti’s DTH account will be announced.

A source close to the development informs agencyfaqs! that four agencies – JWT, Lowe, BBH, Singapore, and McCann Erickson – have made it to the final round of the presentation. However, JWT has now been asked to make another presentation by the end of this week. Vibes within the agency are positive and expectations high. The question is, can JWT do an encore?

On Wednesday, JWT bagged the estimated Rs 50 crore retail account of Bharti Retail. agencyfaqs! had earlier reported that five agencies were involved in the pitch for the retail account ever since the Bharti Group announced its retail plans backed by a $2.5 billion investment. The names of the five agencies are Lowe, O&M, Leo Burnett, JWT and McCann Erickson.

After Bharti Retail, can JWT do an encore with DTH?
The DTH business is being seen on par with the retail account in terms of the significance and advertising spend.

When contacted, Rohit Ohri, managing partner, JWT, Delhi, says, “Apart from the fact that we now hold the retail business, no future plan has been shared with the client as such. We have a meeting coming up today. There will be a brief given to us tomorrow, though nothing will be shared with the media.” Other sources have revealed that JWT will provide the entire branding solutions for the retail venture.
